Lyrical Opposition is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization serving artists and communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our programs connect creative development with social awareness and community participation.

Lyrical Academy: workshops and learning

Lyrical Academy develops lyrical artists through workshops and showcases. Artists and organizers work on their craft, exchange ideas, and explore how artistic expression can communicate messages of hope and social change. The program supports learning for people interested in facilitating workshops, teaching, and sharing work with a community audience. Community events and public expression

Lyrical Originals are curated admission-free events showcasing artists, musicians, poets, and filmmakers who share messages of hope, empowerment, and social justice.

Lyrical Open creates space for artists and community members to connect, collaborate, and share creative work.

Lyrical Studios: sound, film, and storytelling

Lyrical Studios provides resources for artists and filmmakers creating new work that addresses social issues and systemic oppression. Music recording and film production connect individual voices with public stories. Our film projects include Re-Entrification, which examines housing, displacement, and belonging in the Bay Area. Artist sustainability and cultural space

Artist sustainability is a commitment to helping artists continue their creative work through learning, community connections, opportunities to share work, and production resources. Lyrical Vinyl’s work with records and music culture is part of our broader interest in preserving and sharing art. For current gallery or retail inquiries, contact our team about the San Bruno space; online shopping is not offered on this website.

Lyrical Ones: media and publishing

Lyrical Ones documents the people, art, culture, communities, and ideas around Lyrical Opposition. Its editorial work spans journalism, artist interviews, photography, films, podcasts, community stories, and the cultural archive. The newsletter is one way to receive the publication.
