Our mission, in practice.

We cultivate artists and activists who use creative expression to engage with issues affecting their communities. Spoken-word poetry, hip-hop, music, film, and storytelling create opportunities to share lived experiences, examine injustice, and imagine change together.

Our work brings together artists, organizers, and community members through workshops, showcases, admission-free events, recording, and film production. Creative development and public participation are central to this work.

Who we serve.

We support lyrical artists developing their craft and community members seeking spaces to experience and participate in the arts. Our educational activities connect learning with expression; our events bring audiences into conversation with artists and their work.

We operate in the Bay Area, with a principal office in San Francisco and an art gallery and retail space in San Bruno. Our mailing address is in Brisbane. Contact us for current programming, participation, or visitor information.

How the work takes shape.

Lyrical Academy develops artists through workshops and showcases, with learning opportunities for artists and organizers interested in facilitating and teaching.

Artist sustainability is our commitment to helping artists build the craft, connections, and resources needed to continue their work. Workshops, community showcases, and production resources are ways this commitment takes shape.

Lyrical Originals and community events bring music, poetry, and film into shared public experiences. Our event archive documents past gatherings; the calendar identifies available dates.

Lyrical Studios and filmmaking support new work addressing social issues. Re-Entrification explores housing, displacement, and belonging through film and community storytelling.
