Lyrical Opposition was proud to collaborate with our neighbors in Visitacion Valley and Mission Blue Coffee to present a night of community expression at the Visitacion Valley Open Mic & Community Showcase. Led by Kayla Nachtsheim from Visitacion Valley and held at 99 Leland, the event overflowed with intergenerational creativity, energy, and neighborly love.

From heartfelt poetry to powerful music, expressive dance, and spontaneous moments of joy, the evening offered a platform for artists of all ages to share their gifts. The open mic was buzzing with local talent, and the community showed up in full support — creating a warm, welcoming environment that reminded us of the power of art to unite and uplift.

We’re especially grateful to all the volunteers who helped make this event possible — from postering the neighborhood to setting up, running activities, greeting guests, and helping clean up. Special thanks to those who donated prizes for our community raffle, and to Mission Blue for being a hub of hospitality and creativity.

Lyrical Opposition is teaming up with Visitacion Valley neighbors and Mission Blue Coffee to host a vibrant night of creativity and community! Join us for an Open Mic & Community Showcase featuring music, poetry, dance, and more — all ages welcome and admission is free!

How You Can Help:
We’d love your support to help make this event a success — whether that’s performing, volunteering, attending, or simply spreading the word.

👟 Volunteer Opportunities:

Before the event: Pick up posters at Mission Blue and help get the word out around the neighborhood.
Day of (April 26):
• 5:30–6 PM: Setup Crew
• 6–9 PM: Welcome Team (greet guests, run a kids' coloring activity), Snacks & Raffle Support, and Sound/Stage Support
• 9–9:30 PM: Cleanup Crew
