Lyrical Opposition presented the screening on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Bayview Opera House, 4705 3rd Street, San Francisco, CA 94124. The flyer announced performances by Aleja Ajela, Ray Storme and Unocoolbro, along with a documentary panel. Admission was ticketed through Eventbrite.
The original event listing described the documentary this way: “Re-Entrification is a film that tells the story of residents that have been displaced from their homes due to the city's high cost of living. Tiny homes became a sanctuary where families can have the fundamental human right of a home. This film tells their story on how they made the decision to seek this type of support. Re-Entrification sheds light on the housing crisis in the Bay Area.”
The listing also explained the title: “Re-Entrification means being able to move back into communities and neighborhoods that a person is originally from. It’s the way to bring back its history, beauty, struggle, pain - the soul. Re-Entrification is to create and reclaim sustainable economic structures that allow people living in the neighborhoods to thrive within their own neighborhood; to recapture the native essence of that place.”
The screening flyer carried festival laurels from the Alameda International Film Festival, Better Earth International Film Festival, Docs Without Borders Film Festival, Frida Film Festival, London Movie Awards, New York Odyssey Film Festival, San Diego International Film Awards and Sweet Democracy Film Awards.
