Deville Comes Home to the Mission

Deville returned to San Francisco’s Mission District on July 23, 2026, for a free community screening at 683 Florida Street. The gathering brought film, food, live music, and poetry together in the neighborhood that inspired the story.

Navarro thanked Latino Task Force, Roadmap to Peace, Freedom Braiders, and Nuestra Causa for making the screening possible. His account places the conversation around the film alongside the meal and performances: an opportunity for neighbors to spend time together through art.

The accompanying reel documents the gathering, with filming credited to Dosa Films. It offers a view of Deville’s life beyond the festival circuit and its connection to the community behind the story.

The evening’s program

The announced schedule began with a community mixer at 4:30 p.m., followed by poetry at 5:30 p.m. and the film screening at 6 p.m. The flyer also invited guests to meet filmmakers, cast, and crew, with a screening and Q&A involving creatives and community leaders.

A conversation with the community

In a recap shared with Lyrical Opposition, @thebayareabaddie identifies the venue as CANA (Cultura y Arte Nativa de las Américas) and describes returning to the Mission, where parts of Deville were filmed. The account recalls live performances and a cast Q&A with audience conversations about the film’s themes, and thanks CANA, Mission Language & Vocational School, Freedom Braiders, Latino Task Force, Roadmap to Peace, and Nuestra Causa.

Before the screening: Alive & Free Radio

Ahead of the July 23 screening, Fego Navarro joined Dr. Marshall and the Alive & Free Radio team to discuss Deville alongside @allmothug. In his accompanying post, Fego reflected on growing up listening to the show and thanked @josh.jacobo7 for helping make the connection. The clip preserves the invitation to the free Mission screening.
